Re: 2007 Workers’ Compensation Reduction Bonus Payoff Criteria
During the 2004 negotiations, we reached an agreement with OCTA regarding Workers’ Compensation reductions and bonus money that would be shared with the bargaining unit if particular agreed upon thresholds were met. In the 2007 negotiations, this Letter of Agreement was renewed with some revisions.
As of June 30, 2007, the number of claims for fiscal year 2006-07 were reduced to 134 new claims and the baseline claims benefit payouts were reduced to $3,500,127. As a result of this, you may receive a bonus check in October based on the following criteria:
Active (on the payroll during the “date range” - July 1, 2006 - June 30, 2007 from the date of certification) Full and Part-Time Coach Operators are eligible for the bonus. Full-Time and Full-Time Operators working Part-Time are eligible for up to a full share of the bonus. Dedicated Part-Time Operators are eligible for up to 50% of a full share. Active Operators include Operators on Workers’ Compensation and FMLA Leave during the bonus date range. Coach Operator Trainees are not eligible for the bonus.
An Operator hired after July 1, 2006 is eligible to receive a prorated bonus amount based on the elapsed period of time of Active status during the bonus date range. If an Operator terminated during the date range, the Operator would receive a prorated bonus amount based on the elapsed period of time of Active status during the bonus date range (ex: Certification date 7/15/06 through termination date 10/19/06 would be counted as three months).
Taxes will be deducted. Federal and State taxes are different for each employee. SDI and Medicare will be automatically deducted.
Thank you for your efforts to work safely. There may be further discussion about this topic during our 2010 negotiations. Please approach a Steward or call me at (714) 740-6235 if you have any questions.
