THE JAMES R. HOFFA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND 2011 ESSAY CONTEST

In November 1999, the General Executive Board passed a resolution to create an independent, not-for-profit scholarship fund dedicated to the memory of the revered former General President, James R. Hoffa. Since its creation, the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund has helped hundreds of Teamster children and grandchildren finance their education.
The James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund Essay Contest will award $1,000.00 scholarships annually to 50 students. All applicants must comply with the following eligibility criteria.

ESSAY CONTEST IS NOW AVAILABLE
Applicant must be the child or grandchild of a Teamster member who has been in good standing for 12 consecutive months prior to the application deadline

Applicant must be 23 years old or younger as of September 30

Be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate college, university or community college program, or a technical or vocations program.
The applicant must attached a type-written essay of 500 words or less and the following topic:
What Role can Labor Unions Play in Creating Jobs and Jumpstarting the Economy?

The completed applications and essay must be forwarded to the James R. Hoffa Memorial Scholarship Fund office by September 30, 2012. We will not allow any extension to this deadline.
