Business Representative Ruben Lopez: Veolia:Four drivers were returned to work after being terminated for a zero-tolerance cell phone policy.The policy was unilaterally implemented in December 2008 and ULP charges were filed. Now there is a new understanding that allows the company to issue discipline on a case by case basis.The Federal Government is cracking the whip on cell phones and texting, don't use them while your driving. Business Representative Grant Maertz: UPS: We are hopeful of continuing a trend that started in the fall of bringing back more COMBO jobs to the Anaheim building.Several were brought back in November and as the volume increases we are pushing for more.
Business Representative Frank Sevilla: Contract negotiations for Coke and Pepsi will commence in February 2010. The Locals will exchange proposals with Pepsi on February 1st. Coke negotiations will commence on February 5, 2010. We will keep you updated as negotiations develop. ABF: Regretfully Sister Rhonda Gonzales passed away recently, she is survived by her husband Brother Michael Gonzales, and their five children. Negotiations are currently underway with the City of Anaheim (Convention Center) as well as Disneyland Craft Maintenance Council and Angels Baseball.
